The thought
of prospecting on the telephone often strikes fear in the
bravest of people, even if they are calling a long-established
customer for something like an MOT reminder, but fear not,
help is at hand.
In
this programme, Jeff Smith interviews Shaun Gisbourne. Shaun
helps people in companies by making calls that make their
businesses grow. He also helps them to "Take the Phone
In Small Steps" if they want to do their own telemarketing.
A veteran of
telephone-based business development since 1994, Shaun has
taught others to use the telephone successfully in business
and continues to refine and practice what he preaches.
"To my mind cold
calling is when the person that you're looking to reach
by telephone has no knowledge of you, doesn't know anything
of you - literally doesn't know you from Adam - couldn't
point you out in a line of people. That's what a cold call
is."
This is the first in a series
of programmes from Shaun, which is looking at the basics
of getting started for success on the telephone. Turn up
